This charming cake recipe goes way back — it’s an oldie but a goodie! Lemon, Yogurt and Olive Oil Cake is a typical cake from France, where grand-mère would use a little glass jar of yogurt as the base of all measurements for the cake: a jar of yogurt, a jar of sugar, 2 jars of flour, and so on.
Everyone is invited to this class: Adults & kids alike. Parents: help your (10-year-old plus) kids set-up, and then tiptoe away. Or join your kids for the whole session and cook with them!
This is a 2-part class
We’ll meet from 11am-12pm to make the cake and then reconvene at 1pm to remove the cake from the pan, layer, and decorate. Your cakes will be swoon-worthy!

Here’s what to have on hand to get ready for class.
For the Cake:
yogurt (full-fat, please. Greek yogurt is fine!)
½ cup olive oil
vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste, optional
1½ cup flour
For decorating the cake:
Your choice! Use fresh fruit, store-bought jam, or both
2 cups whipping cream (heavy cream)
A dash of powdered sugar
Cake pan: any old cake pan will do. If you plan on layering your cake with us, then a 9-inch pan OR LESS will be necessary. You’ll also need a bit of parchment paper for the bottom of the cake pan. (Or line it with butter and flour)
Zester for the lemons — a Microplane is perfect
Large bowl, mixing spoon & spatula
Bowl and whisk for whipping cream (eggbeaters or a KitchenAid also work)
