Join our Sip & Nibble: Cool as a Cucumber and you’ll get you cool as a cucumber with a refreshing bright green beverage. We call this cocktail the Cucumber Zinger. Why “Zinger?” From the chilies, of course! They’re entirely optional, but a dose of spicy optimism sure sounds good to us! With or without the chilies, the cucumber and lime ensure that the Cucumber Zinger is fresh and sassy.
Then, we’ll use the leftover cucumber from the cocktail and make Tzatziki. It’s a great little dip, perfect to enjoy with some veggies or pita chips and your cocktail. Tzatziki: so fun to say, so easy to make, so delicious to eat!
Ingredients and Equipment for Class
1 English cucumber, or 3 small Persian cucumbers
a green chile (like serrano or jalapeño), optional: you can substitute fresh mint sprig if you’d like2 juicy limes (or lemons)
1 cup plain yogurt
a clove of garlic, peeled
gin or vodka
cocktail shaker with muddler and strainer (or a makeshift shaker, like a mason jar with a lid and mesh strainer)
a cheese grater or box grater, over a bowl
dill, mint, or parsley
freshly toasted and ground spices, like a teaspoon of coriander or cumin,
pita, flatbread, chips of some veggies to eat with your tzatziki
