Calling all Kiddos — this one’s for YOU! We’re so excited to teach you this Kid’s Club: Clafoutis so you can share the love with your family! A clafoutis sounds fancy and French, but it is really just a fruit baked in a custard — super easy! Of course, it looks fabulous. And when it’s warm from the oven or cooled sprinkled with powdered sugar, it is just heavenly. Your family will be so impressed! And while the cake bakes, we’ll make a cherry soda: now that’s the cherry on top!
Kiddos, you will need to use the oven for this class, so if you or your adult is not quite comfortable with that, make sure they’re around to help you.
Just a few ingredients make the magic!
Alors, here’s all you need for Kid’s Club: Clafoutis:
flour (all-purpose), gluten-free flour, or almond meal
1 tablespoon butter
milk (you’ll need a cup, whole milk is always preferable), Sub non-dairy if needed
cherries: buy a pack of frozen pitted cherries and de-thaw in a colander over a bowl (Make sure you save the thawing cherry liquid because we’ll make a cherry soda while the clafoutis is baking
sparkling water (for soda making)
optional: almond or vanilla extract, cinnamon, powdered sugar
You’ll need something to bake your Clafoutis. A 9-inch pie dish is perfect. Otherwise, you can choose to make mini-clafouti using 4-ounce or 6-ounce ramekins.
Pre-heat your oven to 350℉. Make sure there is a rack in the middle of the oven.
Eggbeaters and mixing bowl (you can also use a whisk).
A spatula for scraping
A sieve or small strainer
Towels and/or oven mitts
