Let’s Go Argentina and celebrate summer! A perfectly cooked steak (or Portobello Mushroom) awaits, with a side of chimichurri sauce that’s as spicy as you like it.
Whether you have a grill or not: everyone should learn the best method to pan-sear a steak. (Wintertime happens, or a rainy day, or perhaps you don’t always have access to a grill.) In this class, we’ll focus on pan-cooking a steak and how to finish it to perfection. We’ll chop-chop-chop a tangy chimichurri as the accompaniment.
Ingredients for Let’s Go Argentina!
This list will give you plenty to serve 2. If you have 2 meat-eaters, we recommend that you join us and cook each steak using the two different techniques we’ll teach. Then you can compare the result!
2 7-ounce top sirloin steaks. Substitute a large portobello mushroom for each vegetarian
1 bunch parsley
1 small bunch of fresh oregano (or use dried)
2 cloves garlic
1 jalapeno pepper or red pepper flakes
Staples: olive oil, salt, and fresh cracked pepper
chef’s knife & cutting board
heavy-bottomed skillet: a cast-iron pan would be perfect!
