Paella de España (Class Only)

Immerse yourself in the food, wine, and culture of España with this national dish. We’ll take you through all the steps to make a showstopping authentic Paella for four people. Our Ingredients Kit makes it easy — just about everything you need for class arrives in a lovingly packed box. The purchase price of the ingredients kit includes the kit (4 servings), shipping costs, and the cost of the class. (If you cannot attend the live class, we’ll send you a recording to watch at your convenience.)
Ingredients for Paella de España
Without the ingredients kit, you’ll need to purchase and have these items ready for class. This will make a Paella that serves 4 as a main course.
Vegetables for the sofrito: 6 cloves garlic, 1 onion, 1 each red and green bell peppers, 14-ounce can of diced tomato
For the Paella: 8-ounces Spanish Chorizo, 10-ounces Bomba rice, 1 cup peas (or snap peas, or shelled edamame), 1 lemon, and 1-quart chicken stock
Spices: saffron, Spanish Pimentón, paprika, and cayenne pepper
Olive oil for cooking, a small amount of parsley for garnish (if you desire).
The protein(s) of your choice. Mix and match! Choose any that you like from below:
1 pound chicken tenders
½ pound shrimp
½ pound mussels
½ pound clams, like littleneck or manilla clams
½ pound fish, like cod or monkfish
There will be some prep to be completed prior to class. After you signup, we’ll send you prep instructions and the Zoom link for class.
Equipment
A fabulous Paella needs very little equipment to get right. Have a cutting board and knife ready. A food processor will make the prep easier if you have one. You’ll need a great 12-inch skillet, non-stick is best to create the famous socarrat on the bottom of the Paella. See below for our recommendation. A heat-proof, non-scratching cooking spoon and a wonderful bottle of wine are the only additional “equipment” you’ll need! (Wine recommendations are included in the kit.)

This salt is a Hipcooks favorite, and is the ideal finisher to many dishes. Crystals with large surface area mean “less is more”. Use to finish dishes for a lovely burst of flavor
