We Got the Beet!
Move over, Golden Milk Lattes! Turmeric Toddies, we’ve got something beetier — our Ginger, turmeric & beet latte! We’re celebrating Valentine’s Day with a heart-healthy pink latte: made with love (and turmeric, ginger, spices, and beets!)
Make a Ginger, turmeric & beet latte by doctoring-up a turmeric ginger toddy: heat milk or any nut milk of your choosing, slice up ginger to infuse and sprinkle in a dash of turmeric. Sweeten with honey, or make a chai simple syrup to sweeten the deal and add flavor.
Health Benefits — Let Food be Thy Medicine
Ginger
Have ginger often, both raw and cooked with food. Ginger helps digestion, reduces nausea. It has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Wipe out the flu with our ginger Cold Buster Drink.
Turmeric
Turmeric (active compound curcumin) is antioxidant, anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-carcinogenic, anti-mutagenic and anti-inflammatory properties. It is good for your brain! Turmeric’s anti-inflammatory properties have been instrumental in treating osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. The antioxidant also destroys the free radicals in the body that damage the cells. It may also help improve symptoms of depression.
Beets
Besides turning everything a gorgeous color, beets have fiber, folate and vitamin C. They also contain nitrates and pigments that may help lower blood pressure and improve athletic performance.
Spice things up in your Kitchen!
It is said that cultures that use a lot of spices in their cooking are among the healthiest. A sprinkle is all you need!
Spices not only enhance the flavor, aroma, and color of food and beverages, but they can also protect from acute and chronic diseases. They possess antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antitumorigenic, anticarcinogenic, and glucose- and cholesterol-lowering activities as well as properties that affect cognition and mood.
Instead of sweetening the Ginger, turmeric & beet latte with honey or sugar, we make a honey-based simple syrup. . . because more spices = more better! The sweetener contains honey, cinnamon (lowers blood sugar levels), clove (antibacterial, anti-fungal and antiseptic) and cardamom (helps in digestion, enhances oral health). Besides helping you feel great, it tastes great!
Add the turmeric and ginger to the milk and heat to a simmer. Let the spices infuse, about 5 minutes. Using a Microplane, grate the beet into the milk. Strain into a mug, and stir in the simple syrup to taste.Ingredients
