I love to make this drink in the bleak winter of February when the days are short … but the night’s are long! I crank up the Bossanova and have a Brazilian Carnaval in my kitchen. Shake your booty as you shake up a caipirinha, Maravilhoso! Muito gostoso!
the insides of 2 passionfruit, scraped with a spoon
4 limes, quartered
6 tablespoons sugar
9 ounces cachaça
Passionfruit are both sweet and deliciously sour, so first try the cocktail without the lime. You may decide to omit it. Me: I like excess.
In a Boston shaker, muddle quartered limes and sugar. Add ice. Add cachaça. Shake, Shake, shake! Pour into 4 SMALL glasses (this is strong!) and sip.
No cachaça = no problemo. Try with rum (Caipirissima) or vodka (Caipiroska).
